Greetings Fellow Golfers,

What a tournament! I don’t know about you guys, but the golf Gods were really messing with me today. I had numerous two-foot putts lip out time and time again. This game is going to drive me to drinking. Among our foursome, there was one hole that stood out as far as changing the outcome of the gross results. It was on hole #12 (par 5) that Rick Karas drove his ball into the treeline to the left. We saw the ball go into the top of the trees, but we never saw it fall. We looked all over the area but couldn’t find the ball. I was in a cart and drove to the middle of the next fairway (#13) looking for his ball, but couldn’t find it. Rick had to take the two-stroke lost-ball penalty. On the way to the #13 green, I hit a 3-wood right, towards the trees. En route to my ball, I found Rick’s lost ball. The tree he hit must have launched it high and to the left onto the far side of the adjacent fairway. Rick’s final gross score was just one stroke above Mark Gerry’s, the gross-score champion. As a consolation, Rick did get the best gross score for the regular tournament.

The winner of the Club Champion Gross-Super-Senior’s division was none other than Richard Wibbleman. He had a 92 for the first round and a 91 this week for a total gross score of 183.

The top golfers of today’s regular tournament were Rick Karas with an 83 gross score and Earl Clark with a 67 net score. Congratulations to all of today’s winners. Don’t forget about the Club barbecue next week on Friday the 28th at the Mountain View Golf Course. Happy hour starts at 5PM with dinner at 6PM. I’ll be providing the music as in years past. For those of you who weren’t at today’s tournament, George Rose is back on his feet after his EMS adventure last week and is looking a lot better. He stopped by today before the start of the tournament, but decided to hold off playing this week. Richard Guzik also came out today, after also dealing with some medical issues, and played the front nine.

Today’s top golfers were Mark Gerry with a 78 gross and yours truly with a 58 net. Looks like that “Golf for Dummies” book I bought finally paid off. Click on the icons below for the Club Championship results.

RESULTS FOR 09-06-18

Greetings fellow golfers,

Some of you may have noticed that the ambulance and Fire Department responded to the main office this morning while we were out on the course. The response was for George Rose, one of our club members. After playing a couple of holes, he began feeling too weak to continue so he decided to go home. Unfortunately he wasn’t well enough to drive himself so he went to the office where staff called 911. He was found to have low blood pressure and his hands were shaking quite a bit, so he was transported to CMH. As of this writing, we’re still not sure what caused this, but he’s in good spirits and talking normal; although he’s not up to receiving phone calls or visitors at this time. George has been a member of our club for quite some time and is one of our Super Seniors. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We’re all hoping for a speedy recovery. For our newest members who may not know George, this is a photo of him and his wife at our last BBQ in April.

The Club Championships begins next week. Nobody is required to play, but if you decide to play, it will cost an additional $ 2.00 to be paid prior to the start of the tournament. Or you can just come out and play the regular weekly tournament.

If you plan to attend the club BBQ, let Earl Clark know ASAP to that he can give Mountain View somewhat of an accurate count. We don’t want to kill anymore chickens and cows than we have to.

Today’s top golfer was Ron Laufer. He had the best gross score with a 79 and the best net score with a 62. Way to go Ron.

RESULTS FOR 08-30-18 (REVISED)

The first round of the Club Championship will be held on Sept 13th. In addition to the regular $3.00 tournament fee, there will also be a $ 2.00 Club Championship fee. The format will be stroke-play, and for those who don’t want to enter, or who are eliminated early on, you can still come out and play in the regular weekly tournament. The winning categories are: Low gross ($ 100.00), low net ($ 100.00) and low net Super Seniors ($ 50.00). No pressure, this is only for the championship of the entire western civilization and third world countries that drink Perrier.

Also, don’t forget the Club BBQ on Friday Sept 28th at the Mountain View Golf Course in Santa Paula. The cost is $ 15.00 per person with happy hour at 5PM and dinner at 6PM. We also need items to raffle, so if you have something sitting around the house that is of little use to you, bring it (no wives please).

The winning team of this week’s four-man, two-best-ball scramble was the team of Fenelon, Sabedra, McLaughlin and Clark. Way to go guys.

The winners of today’s scramble was the team of Clark, Reeves, Dinielli and Escobedo. They had a 65 gross score and a 54 net. Way to go guys. Next week we will be having a 4-man, two-best-ball tournament.

Greetings Fellow Golfers,

It was definitely a hot and muggy one today. It started out kinda nice, that is until the humidity kicked in. While I was on the fairway of hole #12, I learned that Don Walker is going to be celebrating his 68th wedding anniversary this coming Sunday. Congratulations Don. Apparently your wife has trained you well over the years; well enough to keep you. My wife is still in the process of training me. She says I eat like an animal. All kidding aside, 68 years married is a number to be proud of.

Today’s top golfers were Van Millan with a gross score of 75 and Chuck McLaughlin with a net score of 59. Way to go guys.

RESULTS FOR 08-02-18

The top golfers of today’s tournament were Mark Gerry with a 84 gross score and Charles Mclaughlin and David Escamilla who both tied for the best net score with a 65. Way to go guys. I also noticed that my score shows a 123 when it was actually 96. I didn’t want to hold up posting everyone’s scores while waiting for the correction, so this will suffice for now.
