Greetings fellow golfers,
I thought I’d share a strange golf experience with you from yesterday’s tournament. We were on the last hole of the day on the #16 dog leg, and I was en route to beating my handicap when I hit slightly left towards the green with a 5 wood. We saw the ball hit the trunk of the large eucalyptus tree on the left border pretty solid, but we did not see which way the ball deflected. We never did find it so I took a 2-stroke penalty. After the tournament and after dropping off my partner in the parking lot, I went back to look for my ball because it had to be out there someplace. After searching unsuccessfully all over the place, I looked up and there it was just barely dangling from a piece of bark. I could see my two red-dot and two black-dot markings on it. I was able to throw a stick at it and get it down. I now realize this had to happen in order to maintain the equilibrium of the universe after I got a birdie on #10 with the 3rd stroke being from 30 yrds out and the ball going into the hole on the second bounce. That’s golf for you.
There will not be a golf tournament on Thanksgiving Thursday, but there will be a tournament the Wednesday prior on the 21st. It will be a regular-play tournament with the scramble taking place the following week.
If you received an e-mail notice from SCGA advising you the your club dues are due, then it’s time to get your $ 60.00 annual payment to Von Williams. Most member’s dues are due at the end of the year, but some of the newer members who joined throughout the year don’t need to pay until their anniversary month.
This week’s top golfers were Van Millan with a 76 gross score and Jack Fenelon with a 64 net. Way to go guys.
Regards,
Bob Escobedo
