“There may be people who have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.” —Derek Jeter

Golf 23(USED) Since Easter was last Sunday, I decided to find a golf cartoon with a rabbit in it.

When I first started playing golf a few years ago, I thought I could learn on my own by watching PGA tournaments on TV, by watching the golf channel and by reading books like Golf for Dummies. I progressed very slowly and my swing was never the same from one day to the next. My biggest problem was that I couldn’t step outside myself and stand on the sidelines to examine my swing. I had no idea what I was doing wrong. It was all trial and error (mostly error) and hitting 500 balls a day became a waste of time because I was hitting 450 of them wrong. The best thing I ever did for my game was to take a lesson from Chad Wright, a PGA instructor. Immediately a saw a difference after he got rid of my “chicken wing”. Then I took 4 lessons from Robert Secrest and that really changed my game for the better. I went from a 38 HC to a 23 and I’ve been improving ever since. In the photo below, Robert Secrest instructs his young-golfers class at Saticoy. I took the photo this morning from the #14 T-box. I would recommend lessons for anyone who wants to be a better golfer regardless of what your HC is. But especially if you’re having a problem with your swing and you just can’t figure out what you’re doing wrong. The time, effort and money spent now will benefit you for years to come.

The winners of todays 4-man 2-best-ball tournaments was the team of Earl Clark, Jack Fenelon, Chris Bartelson and Don Walker. They had a total net score of 111. Way to go guys.

Robert Escobedo
