Dear fellow golfers,

We will  be having a club luncheon next Thursday right after golf at Santino’s Pizza on Telegraph Rd. just west of Ventura College on the north side of the street.  Regarding the President’s Cup, Rich Guzik wasn’t able to play Thurs. so the championship round between the two top players was postponed until next week.  The 3rd and 4th  place finishers were able to play and the winner was Bob Edwards for the 3rd place award.  Good job Bob.

The top golfer of the regular tournament was Jack Fenelon with a 79 gross score.  He and Fred Rudy tied for the best net score with a 60.  Way to go guys.

RESULTS FOR 05-30-19 AND THE PRESIDENT’S CUP

Congratulations go out to Jack Fenelon who got a hole-in-one last week on hole #6.  Below is a photo of Jack receiving his $ 100.00 prize from club President Earl Clark.

The top golfers of this weeks regular tournament were Rocky Escalante with  a 79 gross score, and three guys with the best net score.   They were John Gonzales, Rich Guzik and Dom Dinielli.  All three had a 64 net.  Way to go guys.

RESULTS FOR 05-23-19 AND 2ND ROUND OF PRESIDENT’S CUP

Greetings fellow golfers,

It looks like Jack Fenelon had a pretty good day today.  Not only did he shoot the best gross score of the tournament with a 78, but he also got a hole-in-one on hole #6.  His drive on the par 3 hole was with a pitching wedge.  The ball landed about four feet short of the pin and bounced into the hole for a one.  This was witnessed by Ron Laufer, Von Williams and Bob Sabedra.

The best net score was posted by Rich Guzik with a 57 net.  He  also advances to the next round of the President’s Cup.  Way to go Jack and Rich.

RESULTS FOR 05-09-19 AND 1st ROUND PRESIDENT’S CUP

Greeting fellow golfers,

We will be having a club luncheon next Thursday after the tournament.  The location will be Santino’s Pizza on Telegraph Rd. just west of Ventura College.

Richard Guzik, our Rules Chairman, sent me the following:  The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) will hold a new FREE golf rules seminar at the River Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse on Wed May 29th at 3PM.  Several Saticoy Senior Board members will be attending and the seminar is open to all of our club members and other senior club members in this area.  If you would like to attend, please call or email me (Rich Guzik) so we can get a head count for SCGA.  My number is (805) 642-7989.   Email:theguziks@aol.com.

RESULTS FOR 05-02-91 AND PRESIDENT’S CUP

Good morning fellow golfers,

This last Thursday when I received the results, they were sent to me in two emails.  One was for the regular tournament and the other second had the President’s Cup results.  I opened the first one I found (Pres. Cup) and thought that was it for the week, so I only posted those results.  I was away from my email until just now.  I found the rest of the results and I’m posting them here.  I apologize for the delay.  We also had a close friend pass away and my wife is the trustee of her estate, so we’ve been busy and I wasn’t checking my email.

The top golfer of Thursday’s regular tournament was Rick Karas who had the best gross score (82) and the best net score (65).  Way to go Rick.

We only have 13 players signed up for the President’s Cup (count me as #14 because I want to play).  According to Jack Fenelon, we need 16, so if you want to play, now is the time to sign up.  Qualifying is May 2nd, with the top 16 players advancing to the first round which will be played on May 9th.

The winning team of today’s scramble was the team of Tone, McLaughlin, Rudy and Williams.  Way to go guys.

Don’t forget about the away tournament on May 13th at Elkins Ranch.  Cost is $ 55.00 payable to Jack Fenelon.  Speaking of payments, if you signed up to play and haven’t done so, now would be a good time to write that check and get it to Jack by next Thursday, or sooner if possible.

Today’s top golfers were Jack Fenelon and Rick Karas, both with 85 gross scores.  Chris Bartelson had the best net score with a 62.  Way to go guys.

RESULTS FOR 04-04-19

This cartoon is brought to you by Earl Clark who emailed it to me a few weeks ago.

On a more serious note, for those who did not play today, it is with a heavy heart that I share this sad news with you.  One of our long-time golfers has shuffled off to that great fairway in the sky.  Earl Clark made the announcement this morning at the start of the tournament.   Jerry Workman, one of our super seniors, passed away a few days ago.  He had been experiencing medical issues for quite sometime.  I checked the Ven. Co. Star for his obituary, but it’s not there yet.  What I remember about Jerry is that he was a military veteran and he liked going to Ventura College football and basketball games.  Also, whenever he played golf at Saticoy on Thursdays, there was a tree next to the #5 T-box that he would stop and talk to.   He actually had the tree planted there in memory of his wife when she passed away.  That’s who he was talking to.  I’d like to think that they’re together now and he’s talking to her in person.  Rest in peace Jerry .

Today’s top golfers were Van Millan with an 80 gross score and Earnie Baca with a 64 net.   Way to go guys.  On a side note, did anyone else have trouble with the overgrown grass in the rough areas?  I sure did.
