Hi sports fans,

Next week, Thanksgiving week, we will be playing golf on Wednesday Nov 22, instead of Thursday. T-time is at 8am.

Jack Fenelon sent me a revised version of last week’s results. Apparently there was a discrepancy in the information posted. Rick karas’ and Gary Hibner’s scores were transposed. Rick was the one who shot an 80. Gary shot an 84.

Jack also informed me that when he was doing the money envelopes, he had more money left over then expected, so he added money to the 2nd and 3rd place winners of each flight.

Also, Jack informed me that during today’s tournament, the team that started on hole #7, forgot to pick up the “closest-to-the-pin” marker on hole #6 at the end of the round.

Also, a reminder that club dues are now being excepted ($ 60.00).

This week’s top golfer was none other than Richard Guzik. He had a gross score of 77 and a net score of 62. Way to go Richard.

Greetings fellow golfers,

Don’t forget about next week’s (11-09-17) general membership meeting to be held at Santino’s Pizza right after our tournament. We will also be nominating and electing new board-members and we will be re-electing some of the incumbents. Some of you may not be aware of this, but we have some current board members that have been serving in their positions for quite a few years. It’s only fair that they be given a break by having others step up to the plate and volunteer for the good of the club. I for one have been holding two positions for the last few years: Website Chairman and Treasurer. I’d like to turn the Treasurer duties over to someone else. We may have to institute some kind of a draft-lottery system like the old military, or maybe we can pull names out of a hat like we do with our raffles, ha, ha. We’ll see.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Santino’s Pizza, it’s located on Telegraph Rd. just west of Ventura College on the north side of the street right before Foster’s Freeze. The easiest way to get there is to turn west on Telephone from Wells Rd. Continue to Victoria, turn right (N/B), then turn left (W/B) on Telegraph Rd. It’s right past Ventura College. If you get to Ashwood Ave., you’ve gone too far. You can also phone in your order (805 644-0166) so your food is ready when you arrive. They have a pretty good menu comprised of pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, salads and beer. You can also “go in” with a couple of your fellow golfers and order a large pizza to share. The pizzas are really good; way better than Domino’s. We’ll most likely be in the conference room which is accessed through the bar (but don’t get side-tracked).
