Today’s top scramble team was the team of Escalante, Agdeppa, Rudy and Clark. They had a net score of 53. Way to go guys.
On the closest-to-the-hole award earned by Ron Laufer, I was told that the dollar amount shown on the results is wrong. It’s supposed to be $ 5.00. The same is true for the longest putt award earned by Richard Wibbelmann. It’s also supposed to be $ 5.00.

Today’s top golfer was Pat Reeves. He had the best gross score with an 80 and the best net score with a 61. Way to go Pat.
At the top of the results and the skins pages, the date is shown as 01-15-16 when it should be 01-16-20. I wasn’t able to correct this after the documents were sent to me.

During a past Board meeting, a couple of items were discussed which I thought I’d pass on to the members. I wasn’t present at the meeting but I took the info from the minutes. (Note: The three below items looked OK when I wrote them, but sometimes they end up getting scrambled when I hit “publish”. Hopefully they’ll turn out OK).
1. Clarification on out-of-bounds on hole #7 (and #16): If your ball comes to rest against the concrete base at the bottom of the fence on the right hand side, there is no relief.
2. Clarification on protective screen on hole #4 (and #13): If your ball comes to rest against the protective screen on the right boundary of the fairway, or if it comes to rest between the screen and the perimeter chain-link fence, you get relief of one club length away from the protective screen. If the ball is close to the screen, but the screen does not interfere with your swing, then there is no relief.
3. Clarification on protective screen on hole #3 (and #12): The protective screen on the right hand side by the cart path is actually considered to be the out-of-bounds fence. If your ball rolls under the screen, it is out-of-bounds.

The Board also approved a motion to allow member Jerry Agdeppa to take a one-shot penalty on hole #3 (and #12) if his ball comes to rest in the deep pot-hole bunkers on the right side of the green. He may then hit his next shot from in back of the bunker, no closer to the hole.
Today’s top golfers were Danny Luna, a new member, and John Gonzales. Danny scored an 83 gross. John scored a 65 net. Way to go guys.

I hope everyone had a happy new year. There wasn’t a tournament last week. I think it was due to lots of rain the night before, but we still had five die-hard golfers show up to play an unofficial round. They were Rock Escalante, Ed Maulhardt, Bill Smith, John Gonzales and Don Mulville who came all the way from Prescott, Arizona. That’s what I call dedication.
The top golfers of today’s tournament were Jim Houk who scored a 79 gross, and Phil Youker who scored a 63 net. Way to go guys.

SKINS RESULTS FOR NOV 21, 2019

At today’s club luncheon, the Treasurer’s report revealed that our club funds are pretty low. In past years, when this happens, we’ve temporarily instituted an additional $ 2.00 fee to the $ 3.00 tournament fee. Looks like we’re going to need to do this again starting Dec 5th. The fee to play in the tournament will be $ 5.00. The skins fee will remain the same at $ 2.00.
For those members who pay their membership dues at the end of the year, Von Williams is now accepting payment for the upcoming year. Make your checks payable to SSMGC. I believe you can also pay via credit card directly to SCGA (Southern California Golf Assoc.)
We most likely won’t have a tournament on Thanksgiving Day, but we may play on the Wednesday before. We’ll keep you posted.

Membership dues are due for all the long-time members who regularly pay at the end of each year. For those newer members who joined the club on a month other than one at the end of the year, your dues aren’t due until that month comes around again.
Don’t forget about our club luncheon at Santino’s Pizza on Thursday Nov. 14th. It will begin right after our golf tournament. Santino’s is located on Telegraph Rd. just west of Ventura College and east of N. Ashwood Ave. on the north side of the street. They have great food. My favorite is the small salad bar with either the personal-size pizza or half a sub sandwich.
