I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but today, after I finished hitting balls on the range at around 1:30 PM, about a dozen new (used) golf carts arrived at Saticoy. I overheard some of the workers talking about how they came from the old Mountain View Golf Course. At the same time, an equal number of the old carts were being loaded onto flatbed trucks. It’s nice to see improvements being made. Speaking of improvements, I’d be nice if they fixed the netting on the left side of hole #1/10. There a numerous gaping holes along the bottom. If your ball rolls into the net, there’s a 50/50 chance it will go OB through the net.
Today’s top golfers were Pat Reeves, John O’Neal and Ron Carpenter. Pat and John tied for the best gross score with an 87. Ron had the best net score with a 63. Way to go guys.

Jack Fenelon notified me this afternoon of the passing of a long-time member of the club. Phil Savala passed away last weekend. Even though he rarely played with the club in the last few years, he kept his membership up to date. I’m sure some of our more senior members remember him.
The winners of today’s four-man, two-best-ball competition was the team of Collins, Kehoe, Williams and the blind guy. Way to go guys.

Next week is still September, so Jack has indicated we will probably not have the regular tournament format. He’s working on the type of format to implement.

Jerry Kehoe accepts his $ 50.00 check for taking first place in the Super Seniors division. John Gonzales, who wasn’t present at today’s tournament, took first place in the net-score division. His $ 100.00 check will be given to him later.
Here’s an interesting fun fact. Gerry Adgeppa, who tied for first place in the net competition of today’s tournament, seems to have mastered the art of pitching/chipping onto the green. Today his chips onto greens #9 and #18 resulted in his holing the ball both times for par. I’m going to have to find out what brand of ball, club, and shoes he uses and what kind of cereal he eats for breakfast (photo by Earl Clark in the parking lot).
