“The most important shot in golf is the next one.” — Ben Hogan

Our day-before-Thanksgiving tournament went off without a hitch. The turnout was a little low, but it appeared that everyone had a good time. Instead of the usual shotgun start, everyone began at hole #1. It was a little nippy by Southern California standards and later the wind kicked up in an easterly direction. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, not just because of the food, but for all the things we have to be thankful for (like golf).

DSCN1069(sm) Pictured is Tony Merriman caught in mid-swing at hole #1 during today’s tournament. My camera wasn’t fast enough to freeze the action on his club. As you look past his hands along the club, the shaft gets blurrier as you go toward the head. The head is almost invisible. This gives you an idea of how much faster a club head moves in relation to a golfer’s hands.

Congratulations go out to our top golfers of the week: Jack Fenlon had the best gross score with an 84. Yours truly had the best net score with a 64. I sure wish there had been a turkey as today’s prize.

Regards,
Robert Escobedo
