“You must have long-range goals to keep you from being frustrated by short-term failures.” — Charles Noble
Four announcements:
1. The weekly tournament start time is going to remain 7:30am until further notice.
2. We are now accepting membership dues for the coming year. It’s easier all the way around if we can start processing the membership fees a little early. If you can help us out with this, it will be greatly appreciated.
3. During last week’s tournament, John Gonzales scored a hole-in-one on hole #5. This information was sent to me along with that week’s scores, but I was late in getting home and late in posting the scores so I didn’t scroll down far enough on the email sent to me that contained the scores and the notice of John’s H.I.O. For this I apologize. Congratulations go out to John. Hole-in-ones are few and far between and so we celebrate these rare occurrences by giving acknowledgement to the skilled golfer. Some say H.I.O.s are pure luck. I’ve always said, skill gets you close enough to enable Lady Luck to do her thing. John will be receiving a $ 100.00 check at our next tournament.
This is a photo of John that I had in my files. It was taken about a year ago.
4. The next away tournament will be on 11-10-15 at Naval Base Ventura County (the Seabee Base). The cost will be $ 35.00 at the door and an additional $ 10.00 going to Ron Laufer, our tournament chairman. The first T-time is set for 7:30 AM (0730 hours for all you military veterans). The sign-up sheet and applications-to-play will be available next Thursday.
The winners of this week’s tournament were: Steve Smith with the best gross score (80) and Charles McLaughlin with the best net score (59). Way to go guys.
Regards,
Bob Escobedo
Late post: We will be having luncheon at the Wedgewood after our golf tournament on Nov 12th. Phil Youker will be able to start collecting the fees beginning next Thursday.
