“Life is like a boxing match. Defeat is declared not when you fall, but when you refuse to stand again.” — Mohammed Ali
In the above photo, Benito Tapia, the 1st place winner of the President’s Cup Tournament, receives his winnings, a $ 100.00 check, from Club President Phil Youker. Way to go Ben.
Rick Karas, who made a hole-in-one on hole #17 during last Thursday’s tournament, is presented with a $ 100.00 check from Phil Youker. Way to go Rick.
Don’t forget about our next away tournament on June 21, to be held at Navel Base Ventura County, formally known as the Sea Bee base in Port Hueneme. You will need a permit to get on the base, so if you haven’t applied for one yet, it may be too late since it takes about 3 weeks to get one. You can always check with James McShea, the Civilian Golf Pass Liaison @ (805) 982-4602, to see if there’s still time. Last week’s post has the cost to play (I think it’s $ 45.00). Payment goes to Ron Laufer.
Our next luncheon is scheduled for July 21, at the usual place: The Wedgewood. Due to the fact that we go in the hole (money wise) on every luncheon, and the fact that our coffers are running low, we need to increase the cost of the luncheon to $ 10.00. This is still a good deal since we get a great deli-sandwich with potato salad, a pickle, those pink onions, a drink and seconds as long as the food holds out.
For those of you who belong to another golf club in addition to Saticoy, if you paid SCGA dues at the other club you can apply for a rebate from SCGA in October. Get on the internet and go to the website: scga.org/rebate
During our Board meeting today we learned that the SCGA is going to be raising their membership costs. For this reason, beginning July 1, our club membership fees will be increasing from $ 55.00 to $ 65.00. A portion of everyone’s Saticoy membership dues are used to pay the SCGA dues. The rest is used for the benefit of the club.
Today’s top golfer was Ron Laufer. He had the best gross score with a 75 and the best net score with a 58. Way to go Ron.
