RESULTS FOR 02-22-18

I was just reading an article about how golf is really popular in South Korea, but the courses are too far from the cities and too expensive. Instead, they play screen golf. Six times more Koreans play screen golf than regular golf and they pay $ 20.00 on the average for 18 holes. There are over 5,000 locations and they even broadcast screen-golf tournaments on TV. They are able to choose from hundreds of actual golf courses such as Pebble Beach. Sensors in the ceiling track distance, direction, and angle as well as backspin speed. The mat that they stand on can incline to simulate hitting the ball on a hill. There’s even a section on the mat that simulates being in a bunker and a section that simulates the rough. Wind is also factored in as the ball flies and they can see the wind speed on the screen before they hit the ball. What I found funny was that when a ball lands in a lake, the screen displays an underwater view of the ball resting on the bottom. Putting is the most difficult part because it’s hard to determine the exact slope or break of a green based on the symbols on the screen. This all sounds interesting, but I think I’ll stick to Saticoy golf.

The top team of today’s scramble was the team of Youker, Kehoe, Karas and Rudy. They had a net score of 54. Way to go guys.
